Canadian Artist, Lynda Moffatt is a self-taught artist, muralist, faux painter and decorative finisher. She is owner and sole proprietor of Y-Knot! Murals and Faux Finishes since November 2005. Lynda does it all! She has contracted with Museums, Galleries, Custom Home Builders, Interior Designers, homeowners and just plain Art lovers.
"Starting my own business is the best thing I' ve ever done," says Lynda. "This is a dream come true for me. I've been able to totally immerse myself in what I love to do." Professional artists have always surrounded Lynda. She was blessed to have been born into a family of talented artists who also ran a horse business. Her Love for both the arts and horses kept her extremely busy.
In 1999, she delved deeper into the arts. Being one of the first few Scuba Divers in U.S. history to undertake the challenge, of drawing to scale the Shipwreck "The Adventurer". She worked extensively with the S.O.S. Save Ohio/Ontario Shipwrecks and Bowling Green Firelands College, Underwater Archaeology team. Lynda also received a grant from Ohio State to return the Adventurer's original propeller to its original resting place just off of Kelly's Island. Her enthusiasm for this project came from her desire to allow the next generation to be able to snorkel and dive and actually visually see history.
All this while Lynda was working at The Stratford Gallery in Gahanna, Ohio, as an Art Consultant/ Conservator/ Assistant Manager. Here she gained valuable experience working with local designers and custom homebuilders in the area. Exhibiting her work, meeting the local artists and regularly attending art shows, only fed the romance Lynda was longing for in the arts.
Lynda deepened her study of the arts by working closely with Art Therapy students, traveling through Europe learning and experiencing the different cultures and Art techniques. Wanting to come home and share what she had learned from her travels, Lynda returned to Canada in 2001.
On Lynda's return home to Canada, she managed a Gallery in London, ON where her love for the Arts flourished. In 2004, Lynda accepted one of her most rewarding positions - a Mural Artist with the City of Windsor, Art Studio. This position allowed her to work with other artists, to continue to experiment with and learn new techniques. Lynda was an integral part of the beautification project, which enhanced areas of the city with murals depicting significant historical events.
From this point, there was no turning back! Lynda knew she was headed on the right path; she was going to live her dream! Then in 2005, while living her dream, Lynda painted and donated a gift of love to her community - a mural over 80 feet in length, as a thank-you for welcoming her back home.
As further evidence of being on the right path, in November 2005 on the same day as she opened her business Y-Knot! Murals and Faux Finishes, Lynda was contracted by Fort Malden Museum to provide a mural for a new exhibition in their museum. This Mural depicts "The Rebellion of 1836-1837". This mural is a first in Canadian History. It is the first mural of its kind to be acknowledged in a Provincial building in 230 years. The exhibit has been quoted as a "Monumental Feat."
Her clientele have continued to follow her wherever she goes. They continue to support her efforts and desire to follow her heart. Lynda continues to live her dream and hopes that her art inspires you to follow your heart and live your dreams! She loves to be involved in special projects and special orders are always taken.
